Since 1960, Only Bill Lear Managed To Successfully Launch A Start-Up Business Aircraft
Most of the failed programs in the last 40+ years have been directed from individuals outside the aircraft industry who are/were convinced the skills that made them successful in their original field can be transferred to the aircraft industry.

Often with a lot of hoopla and publicity from a press corps eager for anything new that might help sell magazines, these programs get launched.
